Quote: So how do we channel all the "change the portrait on the $10 note" energy to the "get rid of the cent and nickel" and "get rid of the dollar bill" energy? Working on it. Quote: Personally, I'd like to replace Franklin with Mt. Rushmore.
Really. Replace one guy with four. I actually like the idea. Quote: Oh and PS, jbuck, we all like it when you get a bit snarky. If only my wife would agree.

My take about the Government issuing two different bills is easy... Both the Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea were never popular with the general public... So by issuing two type of bills, if there is a backlash then the recalling them won't put a huge shortage of tens out there so for once, the Government is actually doing something smart (for a change)...
I'm just curious how many bills will float around out there with (whatever) woman they do end up putting on there having a mustache drawn on her or whatever else is drawn on her... I don't know why I feel this is going to end up being a huge farce... But, I could be wrong... We'll see!

I am sure my opinion is of little consequence but here it is just as an outsider.
To me the issue of whether there is a woman on the notes is a non-issue. The notes feature presidents do they not? SO the reason there is no women is because there have been no female presidents! This is an issue more than them not featuring on the money. Who do I think is responsible for there not having been a female president? Well I don't think that it is because all men are sexist or all women are repressed. I think that maybe more women should pursue politics, and while I think that no obstacles should be put in their way the process should still be a meritocracy.
Speaking as someone from the UK, who grew up with Margaret Thatcher as Prime Minister when the right woman for the job arrives she should rise to the top. We however have a woman on every one of our notes (the Queen!) and still there are complaints that there aren't enough on the reverses (at present there aren't but these characters change regularly so within a few years we will have again)

Good points, David, and well-taken.
It should be pointed out that not all of our notes feature presidents. Even in the modern era, we have had non-presidents on our notes (Franklin, Hamilton, Chase), and in the large-note era we had all kinds of generals, financial leaders, and even Martha Washington herself.
Having said that, I would agree that there is understandably something of a shortage of prominent women candidates in our history, unfortunately.

I agree. Personally, I would like to see Madison, Hamilton and Jay together on a single note - the authors of the Federalist Papers, and three of our greatest Founding Fathers - Aaron Burr nothwithstanding.

I find it ironic that Jackson is on the $20 when he was opposed to the national bank, vetoing Congress's bill to renew the bank's charter. I think it would be more appropriate to replace Jackson instead of Hamilton, especially because of Hamilton's role in creating the national bank.

It would be a great honor to remove Andrew Jackson from the $20. To quote the great man, Quote: Gentlemen! I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time, and am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I have determined to rout you out, and by the Eternal, (bringing his fist down on the table) I will rout you out!

I would like this feminist garbage to die and equality be born finally. "No kings on our money" Its what George wanted but he is on the $1 and quarter dollar coins. We should go back to symbols that have meaning to people and let them learn the meaning and MAYBE give the country meaning again. Women will just have to accept that they don't get their time on bills. The men (and women, congress isn't made of only men) messed up and should have NEVER put persons living or dead on coinage unless it was commemorative coinage. Heck half the women I have seen don't even know why a woman is on a $1 coin or what that woman or the coin means. It pretty pathetic and then they just want attention.
The only way to end this sexist war is to remove all REAL persons from bills and coinage.

Hear, hear.
Think of all the wonderful symbols we could use instead. We could start with Mt. Obama, I mean Mt. Denali.
