CelticKnot, don't know :) My collection is quite small, only 15 pages so far.

I see. Well, I say you test the limits of your album. When you find that limit, let me know what it is and.... buy another! That's my plan, anyway. hehehe My album is supposed to be here in the next couple of days but the pages won't arrive for at least another week. My report will have to wait...

Will take me some time, since I really go after a specific region and it does not have much in terms of banknotes printed, but I am inclined to go back as much as I can to get at least one album filled :)

Good Day
My first post here and I have a question with regards to currency storage. I have been collecting for a few years now and recently changed to Priz Profil binders and pages, it's a very stiff page which I liked as I think it protects the note more, but I have read online that it may not be a good choice for notes. Any opinion on this?
Cheers

ZABanknote! I don't use Priz Profil binders and pages so can't comment. Never even heard of them and can't find them on Wizard (or elsewhere with a quick Google search). I did just get some lighthouse pages in and they're relatively stiff. I like them so far and they are safe/designed for currency.

[Pic Heavy]Ok, so most of my supplies finally came in. I received the Lighthouse Binder and 50 3-pocket pages, which I think are going to work out wonderfully. The binder is well-made and can probably hold 100 pages. I have 25 more on order but will probably need to order yet another pack of 25 here to fit everything I have at the moment. After that it's time for another album. I put my Zimbabwe collection in already but here's a pic of the remainder of my world notes that need to go in: And a couple of pics (sorry for the bad lighting and reflections) of how the album looks with notes inside. I'm pleased with the outcome. The little slips of paper are to help me remember which notes are from which countries for the languages I can't read and for pick number and such. I intend to replace those with some nice printed inserts at some point in the very near future. Baby steps. Here are some pictures of the album itself. It also comes with a slip case, not pictured. Overall I'm very pleased with this. I will post more pics when I get my labeling system down. Cheers!

I have very similar, if not the same, pages as yours. How do you keep the bills from falling or moving when you tilt the album?

Quote: How do you keep the bills from falling or moving when you tilt the album? Friction. The notes will not budge in the pockets of these Vario pages without some help. I actually wanted to use cheap 2 mil sleeves as added protection for the notes then insert them into the pockets but it was just too hard to get them in the pages. Plus 2 mil over 100 pages adds up.

My 3rd order of pages came in. So, this album holds 100 pages at a comfortable maximum. Which means about 300 notes in a single album. Tragically (happily?) I can see myself exceeding this easily. I'd post more pics but you should get the idea from the above photos. The one of the album lying on its side shows it with 50 pages. It now has 100.

I use Lindner binders for my collection, but it's running over $1 to store one note. I have some surplus items I store in 5"x8" mylar sleeves, the flapover kind, in a Globe-Weis card file box. That is running about 40 cents a note, so if I was starting out fresh, I would go the mylar sleeve/Globe-Weis card file route.
Rearrangement of the sleeves is simple, and if I remove a note from the collection, there is no empty space in the album.

Quote: Rearrangement of the sleeves is simple, and if I remove a note from the collection, there is no empty space in the album. True. But albums are generally better (IMO) for display. It takes a bit more work to rearrange things as you mentioned, but I think the results are worth it. I also like your album + box setup. Think I'll start working on a box for those notes that I don't necessarily want in an album.

Yeah, I do like the albums, the display is nicer. Just considering the cost of storage, album vs. sleeve, sleeves take the cake hands down.

Yup. It's definitely a trade off. It's a combination of "do what's right for the collection" and "do what's right for your wallet".

With over 2,000 notes in my collection, reducing storage cost from over a dollar to less than forty cents per note means I could have two or three additional notes costing a few hundred bucks each, certainly an improvement to any collection.
But, I've got albums already, so the cost has already been sunken, as they say. From scratch, however, I'd look at it differently.

So, use your albums for your display notes. Boxes/sleeves for your... "archive" notes.
This is what I'll do when I run out of "affordable" album space. Seems like a good plan to me. And then it requires you to decide what's album-worthy, what's box-worthy, and what doesn't belong in your collection.
