I agree, the scratches on both sides are straight and seem to be angled and have a pattern as if it was sanded down to be this way.

If I win I will probably try to VAM it and also see if I can pocket peice it until some of the scratches are mostly gone.

I got a date by going through all the vams on all the CC morgans. I finally found a match for the CC location. I think it is a http://www.vamworld.com/1893-CC+VAM-2

Please don't take this one from me guys.

I agree with it being sanded. Lots of parallel hairlines and particularly concentrated where the rim would be. Even if the date was visible, it would get a details grade.

Man, if you can ID dates through VAM's on wiped out morgan's, you should be able to do that with buffalo's and slq's...

Wouldn't that be awesome? LOL.

My guess was 1883. If it is 1893, then I'm not too far off.

Looks like an 1878 CC to me.

The last digit, you can see a curve of an 8.
