Got a "commemorative 20 from ATM recently with a slight fold . Asked a bank teller how many she had seen? 2. just 2, and she bought them. Anyone know when they were issued?

There are going to be 40 million of these notes, other than special serial #, it will never be worth more than face, at least the 1967 notes are going for 2 to 3 bucks

You are exactly right...
I was talking with a rep from one coin shop ... They bought a brick (1000 notes) and have them listed at $25 each... any that don't sell after 1 year are just going to be used as cash at face value.
I personally put 10 away... I imagine a 1-3 for my own collection and the reamainder I may use to trade with others... or give away to a YN if I ever have a table and have to make change.

I think Canada's approaching 150th anniversary may increase demand for the 1967 Centennial $1 notes. At the least, it may serve to bring attention to their existence.
But as far as the $20 celebrating the Queen's reign, the image is so subtle and considering very few Canadians attach any significance to the monarchy let alone how long she's ruled another country, I can't see it ever being a hot ticket item aside from Cdn banknote or serial number collectors. 40 million of the notes should be more than enough to meet their needs...

The other odd fact talking to currency collectors at GTA shows is that know one seems to care much of the new polymer notes. Most comments are they are ugly and generally no appeal for collecting

/\/\ that's pretty much my sentiment.
I will keep one or two of these, but otherwise my bill collection (again, like the rest of my collection they're all circulation items) will stop with the last series of paper bills.

What I'd like to know is if any of these are replacement notes and how does one know?

My guess is you buy bricks and look for an inserted note that is out of sequence, and lettering prefix.

As of yet there are no reported inserts for these notes and it would be highly unlikely there will be.
Cheers, Bill

Good evening everyone, just wondering if anyone knows where I can get some of these in the Oshawa area in Ontario. Also I was lucky enough to get a radar note from the Atm anyone have any idea how much it would be worth. It is clean and crisp with no folds . Thanks

Welcome to the forum! 40 million were issued, maybe try asking around at various banks? As for value, there's numerous radars listed on ebay.ca in the mid $20 to $30 range.

Figgy: a $20 radar that's GUNC will go for about $5 above face.. for current issues.
Haven't seen a commemorative out in the wild for a long time but there are a few still out there...

I just got a commemorative today, but finding them is getting a little tougher for sure!
I wonder how many of us have put away "1 or 2" which likely relates to ten or so ~ and how many are still circulating...
I have recirculated a couple myself, and always have at least one in my wallet (under the guise of "I want to hold off on spending it")...
I like the older replacement notes with the asterisk, because they appear different, but radar notes are nothing that even remotely interest me. ...but I might be the only one here who doesn't care about this new trend.

I like the radars and interesting serial numbers... solids, ladders etc... but for radars and repeaters... I don't pay a premium for them... If I find a radar, repeater or replacement it just then takes a spot in my collection.
I'm not a big fan of the polymers only as with anything new I'm a bit resistant. The fold in a polymer note looks worse and the I hate how they can be "scratched"
Lately for notes I'm drawn more towards Dominion of Can. notes.... nice colours, great images and portraits. Just a whole lot more eye appeal if you ask me.
As for these notes... I have a few in my collection.. a few others I hope at one point I will be able to trade with someone that needs one... and that's it.
