1907 $5 Woodchopper- Goal List Purchase!

One day I will have an 1899 $5 Indian Chief note. I am just still waiting for the right example to come around when I have the right amount of cash in my pocket.

Super nice looking note! I'm always torn between wanting to complete my "type" collection of U.S. notes and wanting to wait until I can afford some really nice examples instead of settling for rags. Every year I go to a big coin show that includes some dealers who specialize in currency and recently I have been making one or two large purchases per year, which either means a semi-rare note in really nice condition or a very rare note in passable condition. I'm still hoping to someday pick up a Series 1923 $10 "Pokerchip" Legal Tender Note, a Series 1914 $20 Federal Reserve Note (Red Seal) and perhaps even a Series 1905 $20 "Technicolor" Gold Certificate, but I suspect those will remain outside my budget for the foreseeable future.

The only one of these that I'm not 100% satisfied with is the $5 "Educational" note, but I just wasn't willing to pay a couple of thousand dollars for a nicer example. Maybe someday after I've finished all my other collecting goals I'll see if I can trade up to a nicer example.

Nice tombstone wheatback. I've been looking for a nice one recently, and every person I ask usually just kind of laughs and says good luck. It's hard to believe how tough some of these older notes in any grade can be to find.

I've passed on a couple of lower grade Technicolor notes, just for the simple fact that with all the color in the note you really need a nice example to see the real beauty of the note. I have never even seen a pokerchip being offered for sale locally, but definitely on my want list.

Coinfrog yes it is the hoard picture again. The guy I bought those from actually called me last night and said he needs to get some cash for a project and he pulled out more notes and coins for me to come and take a look at. The coins are big dollar, 1892 PROOF Columbian expo half for example, So I can only imagine what notes he may pull out.

those educational notes are awesome, it would be cool if modern currency would use some of those classical style scenes.

I'll give you my contact. The thing is he only deals in cash and it's usually large
sums of it. The last lot of notes I bought I also bought a nice diamondworks Breitling at the same time. When I go to see him I usually have a minimum wage workers yearly salary in my pocket. There is also a little something in my waistband too, just in case. The guy has been buying and selling coins and jewelry for 30+ years and he has stuffed away some amazing things in that time.
