This guy also sells DMPL PCGS graded Morgans. It would be better to get those than the raw ones.

This is not a normal toned color for a Morgan dollar. devices do look a little flaky. Don't break your rule.

If it was that fantastic it would be slabbed and would sell for silly money. This coin is "Played with" in my opinion.

Looks like it might make AU PL in hand.

This coin looks like it was AT and the pictures have been somewhat manipulated.

Quote: Looks like it might make AU PL in hand. Looking at the photos again, the coin appears to be AU AT Details and that would put the value around $50. I noticed there is no pull away on the toning around the date and the stars, so AT is very likely.

If this was actually in a high end holder at 65PL or better, imagine what it would be worth.

These kind of sellers (raw DMPLs) are masters at making the photos look like the coin has the deepest, most reflective mirrors. I suspect either light manipulation or maybe even alterations to the photos. It also looks like they're hiding the details.
I, in my previous years, bought 3 coins of the sort, seller claiming DMPL, photos looked amazing. The results? 1 PL, 1 regular grade, and 1 UNC details cleaned.
I would undo those purchases if I could (it was long ago and I waited a long time to get them graded). I suggest you avoid this and those like it, unless TP graded.

It is a common Morgan that looks weird from the photo. I am not quite sure I understand the obsession with weirdly toned coins. Some are beautiful, but this is not one of them IMO. You could buy a CC Morgan for some years which you know has value.

100% pure garbage, a junk artificially toned coin with juiced photos.
Notice that seller is VERY careful not to make any mention of grade, or much else, in the listing.
This seller has been outed before for using heavily doctored photos in listings, usually contrast manipulation.

Terry,
The attraction is DMPL with unusual toning. The seller photos are portraying this coin as a high grade DMPL. If this coin was a MS65 DMPL with red and purple toning in a PCGS problem free slab, the coin would sell for around 5K+ for this common date, but this coin is 100% garbage as noted above.

About the only time I have seen dollars that heavily frosted was on the artificially frosted "California Prooflikes" that were common back in the mid 1970's.
