Hmm... maybe I will have to look into those Dansco binders. Same sort of look but cheaper and more readily available... thanks for the info!

So another question dealing with this... I missed out on a Mexico type album on ebay (went for $84 and wasn't sure I could justify that much right now even though they are rare) and noticed a site that has Whitman foreign type albums for about that price but brand new. Doe a anyone have a foreign type Whitman album?

For Canadian coins try Gardmaster. They run just under $15 Canadian a book ($11 U.S.) plus shipping. The info sheet behind each page is removable and I have customized those sheets in a Word document to include my own varieties and future years.

The Gardmaster albums remind me of the old Harco albums which had problems. I also use Dansco generic albums that hold my 2X2. I have several collections of coins which no albums are made such as a almost complete Vietnam type set and several complete runs of various Japanese coins. Dansco used to make folders for the various Mexico type coins like the 1 centavo. But the ones I have found the bindings have dried out separated. I have an complete set of folders for Mexican coins of which only 2 are not damaged. But rarely seen them offered for sale.

Yup, the old Harco albums had PVC. Very bad. I am pretty sure the Gardmaster are okay, although I still prefer Dansco.

Woah a thread of mine revived. Well an update (why not) I am just keeping a look out for Dansco albums. I can wait for the right album at the right price (although I have missed a few by one bid.. ).

With the Dansco 7000 albums, I would have preferred polypropylene or mylar (archival quality) pages, rather than PVC pages.

Would have cost only a very litle extra to produce, and made almost no difference to the selling price.

I use the Dansco vinyl pages for my 2x2s. The oldest ones are about 25 years old now and I have no issues with them adversely affecting the coins. The only issue was that some of the pages started to sag (accordion style) under weight of the coins. I replaced those pages and rearranged the coins so that heavier ones were on the bottom row and lighter ones on the top rows.

Another small problem in humid climates I have found, is that the mylar sticks of the 2x2's sticks to the inside of the pocket with clear PVC album pages.

I think that is part of my success. My albums have always been kept in a climate controlled location.

But I have seen what you mean, in some dealer albums at coin shows.

From my experience, red uncirculated bronze and copper coins are much less inclined to darken when the mylar 2x2's are installed in non PVC album pages.

I am in the same place, many times seeing how bad Harco
albums damaged coins, I am not sure I would want to try
the Guardmaster albums.

But I have to say that is a very nice looking set of Canadian dollars

I have a chance to examine the Gardmaster up close at a coin show. I am certain they are non-PVC given how rigid the pages are. However, with that rigidity comes other concerns, like scratching coins or cracking after long term use.
