Not hearing a lot of excitement on the MT silvers so far today. I have a feeling many are going to pass on this offering.

With a mintage of 350,000 coins, I imagine the flippers just aren't here for this release.
Placed my order, one proof and one uncirculated. If they're still available later, I might buy another set as gifts.
Would have been nice if they had a special set where the proof is partnered up with one of his books, since they're in public domain. Or maybe a Twain chronicles set? Wishful thinking, I suppose.

placed my order for only one of each also. One day I will need another of each, but that day is several years off.

Just got my U.S. Mint shipping notice on the Twain commemoratives only 20 minutes after placing the order. Pretty nice, speedy service from the Mint when it isn't some huge release.

I hope mine arrive soon as well!

I received mine. I'm not sure what year they switched to black boxes with the description i.e. 2016 Mark Twain Silver Dollar-- Proof on the edge of the box...around 2010 or so maybe? Anyway-- I like the packaging and I hope they keep it that way in uniform size and look and color for many years to come. The coins look nice. I especially like the way the reverse looks. I still believe, in my personal opinion only, that the obverse is just too busy with the boat and moon and all on the left side, on top of the large portrait of Mark Twain. The back is busy too, but it works much better for me visually.

I received my single proof Twain dollar in the mail yesterday and was quite impressed with the design once it was in hand (after I spent a half hour trying to open the cardboard shipping container). I swear, they must have sealed that cardboard together with "crazyglue"!

Oh yeah -- I know that packaging you're talking about. You have to have strong hands/fingers to tear that packaging open! My Twains came in that too. Part of me wants there to be an easy open tear tab but part of me is happy there is not for security reasons. I guess I'd rather it be hard for me to open than easy for a thief to open.

@crazyglue: edge lettered blue boxes appeared with the 2012 commems, Infantry and Star Spangled Banner. The black boxes appeared starting with the Girl Scout dollar the following year. By then the interior of the box, the outside printing and the metal edge of the velvet case also matched the coin it contained.
