Nail: Meet head!

The problem with putting politicians on coins is that it becomes political to change it. Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Washington were all accomplished men and certainly are well deserving of recognition. Coins, however are symbols of the nation and should not memorialize individuals. They should commemorate accomplishments and ideals of the nation as a whole. Liberty, Justice and the American Way should be topics, not individuals, regardless of their accomplishments.

In a monarchy I can understand the effigy of the monarch but in a republic like the USA we should not have real people on coins or currency.

A quick trip to the Google Machine has brought back multiple results for these silver Reagans. Here is one below on the ole ebay.

I didn't know these existed. It's kind of creepy looking because they kept the same back. I would think that if they did ever change it that they would design a new backing to make it it's own coin.

Would rather see the Mercury dime reissued for circulation in 2016 then a Roosevelt.

I would love to see at some point, a non politician coin again. A classic design of Liberty, Columbia, even an immigrant or something of that manner since it's where we all came from (or at least part of most of us)
