Thanks guys. Still going through it all I think my collecting niche is quickly becoming buying collections. Love the thrill and excitement of the gamble and the score plus the variety. Buying single coins has always been kinda hum-drum for me @Cartwheel, pm me or turn your ablity to receive messages on

Have read over this thread a couple times.
I think as far as silver, you were fairly close to what a good coin shop would sell junk (90%) for.
It looks like many of the coins you picked up are better than Junk silver quality. You also have 40% and the non silver coins that makes it a better buy.
I agree with others that this was a pretty good buy.
Those coin banks are very cool .. I am curious what the dates are on your banks. The one from the post last week .. was 2-58 ... are those around that age?

How would you go about finding auctions in your area, or garage sales for that matter. I would like to add these outlets to my collection addiction. There are a couple of auction companies in town, but every time I look it there is nothing scheduled (or plates)

You just have to do some Internet work and ask. Look for estate auctions. There's some good ones in Vegas so I'm assuming reno has some too. Here's an Americana auction house that has coin auctions but I'm not sure how often and I bet it's a higher end material type company. For run of the mill do Google searching and go to storage auctions (like on storage wars) and ask guys there about estate or coin auctions in the area. That would know of a few for sure if they're around. http://holabirdamericana.com/http://anchorauctions.com/auctions.htmhttp://lightningauctions.com/curren...ng-auctions/

I can't find a date GR. But I'm guessing these might be a 2nd or 3rd generation if the other one posted with date was first Gen because I seem to remember the other one saying that a check will be sent back in the amount of change found inside during repairs while mine say break it open then send it lol... I'm guessing mine are early 1960's versions

Some auction houses have internet bidding so you can participate in live auctions anywhere in the country...

Cascade Thanks for checking ... Nice to know more about these banks. If I see any, I might pick some up too.
Cool that they are from Jackson Mich. That is the area I grew up in .. and plan on moving back there.

Ya that's strange when you see an old item manufactured where you grew up ain't it. I've had that happen a couple times

Not sure on the date of manufacture on those cool banks, but my buddy growing up had one that looked just like one of those, I remember as I was pretty jealous of it. It was in the early 1970's, so late 1960's seems like a reasonable guess.
