I prefer old and worn (or new and shiny), non expensive world coins, apposed to high grade and valuable ones, or really any valuable coins regardless of their grade. I find the common ones more interesting. If I got a lot of money I would not spend it all on one or a few coins, but rather on many non expensive ones that I like.

I don't have any specific coin in mind, but someday, provided by chance and money, I'd like to own a nice example of 8 reales cob coin.

I'm not greedy. I would just pick up a 1907 St Gaudens ultra high relief double eagle.

It would be sort of fun having a 1974 Aluminum Cent, a 1943 Copper Cent, 1944 Steel Cent, 1959 Wheat back Cent and one each of all the doubled Died Cents.

Hold up... Why is that $50 gold piece called the "Quintuple Eagle", when in the 1870's half union type coins of the same denomination ($50) were made?

Thanks for the link. I would have thought that including the original Henry VIII sovereigns with a collection of modern sovereigns is a bit of a blunder. Apart from sharing the same name, they're two very different coins. The modern sovereign (minted since 1817) bears absolutely no similarity in type, size or value to the old version, and was minted simply as a replacement for the guinea. |

Complete set of Buffalo nickels INCLUDING the Errors, all of them, in MS 65 and better and only the BEST known of each date would be included in my set ..... Not exactly a single coin but what a set that would be .... And with my extra monies remaining lets do some Silver Dollars next .... Same routine, only the finest of each date .... Otherwise if just going for the buck .... Give me the 1913 Liberty nickel. |
