In contrast to my last purchase of 2015 (which featured over thirty coins for a total of roughly 50 cents), my first purchase of 2016 was very expensive by my standards: about a dozen assorted ancient and otherwise old coins (one turned out to be 20th century - French IndoChina 1 centime - but the rest were all pre-1800), for a total of 2500 rubles ($35). There were a few that I probably should've passed on, a few I didn't buy that I'm now mentally hitting myself about (including one that was probably a Ptolemaic copper), and several coins were put on hold for a further possible purchase (I really wanted them, but they were sold for $5.5 a piece, and the $35 I paid was already almost all of my money). But I did get my first Valentinian III (probably, can't see any legend), my second Fel Temp (one of the "stirrups" types, apparently, which really surprised me), my first cross-in-wreath with a readable emperor (Theodosius II, naturally), my first French Kingdom silver (well, billon), my first old Polish silver larger than a poltorak, and a Pantikapaion type that's not in Wildwinds (I did find it in a more focused catalog). |

I bought this random lot of coins. I just wanted the Flying Eagle, so I will sell the rest of the coins to help cover the $70 I paid for the lot.   |

I should be getting a package today that I bought in December from Provident Metals. A 5oz. Saratoga ATB round, a 2oz. Privateer Round (#3 in the series), and a 2016 silver Kookaburra. Ordered it on December 9th from provident but because of slow mail this season, multiple days off for the post office, and mandatory wait days to clear my check payment, it's just now getting to me! |

1995 Turks and Caicos 20 crowns fencing commemorative of the 1996 Olympics. This was the last precious metal fencing commemorative that I did not have and I had nearly given up hope in finding it because it so rarely shows up for sale.  . Sellers photos as it's still on its way.  |
