I'd spend it....
JK- Definitely a keeper, cool note to own! How did you acquire this one?

This doesn't need sentimental value to be a keeper.
This is the key note in the small-size $1 Silver Certificate series (non-star).

That's a great note. It appears to have been folded and used a lot but that just makes me think of all the places it could have been before it got tucked away. Nice piece of history.

Definitely a KEEPER! especially since it was your Mom's. I'd put it in a mylar holder and stash it away with all your other memories.

Thanx for all your comments. I was wondering if any of you could please grade this note for me. I'm leaning towards a VG. What say you?

I can't offer an opinion on the grade. Quote: I have many others that show HISTORY. Ha! Yes! If I'm buying, then it's worn and heavily circulated. Once it's mine, it's a great piece of history. If I ever decide to sell something I'd probably call it an artifact. Not really.

Think I should send it out and have it professionally graded?

Key note to the series, and expensive in mid-grade to CH-CU. Yours looks like a VG+, with poor centering, and front and rear margin staining. Only 3.5 million of this series printed....compare that to 2.2 Billion 1928A's printed. I'm not sure grading will add any value to your note, and many in this grade are sold/auctioned without being in TPG holders. Yours most likely would come back from a TPG with a NET or APPARENT notation for the stains. Other than that it shows even, honest wear and if it was mine, I would keep it in a currency sleeve until I could find/afford a problem free, nicer example with better eye appeal.

Agree completely - note speaks for itself. Solid VG.

Quote: I can't find much about this bill Sorry for stretching out of this thread but my original question seems to be holding true. I've been looking for hours and nowhere online can I find the amount of printed notes per series. Am I looking in the wrong place or am I going to have to buy a US currency book?

The information I posted earlier in this thread is from a US currency book titled; Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money 1928 to Date by John Schwartz and Scott Lindquist (10th edition). I consider it a must have for US small size currency collectors. Very informative and detailed.
