Finally Finished My Canadian 1 Cent Set

Very bent haha. I am far under what the packaging specified for weight limit per shelf but it still ended up bending quite a bit. The entire shelving unit is actually leaning about 5 degrees away from the wall, I am looking at getting a more sturdy one as soon as I find one that will fit (and hopefully before this one falls on top of me).




SPP, I have not forgot about those. My nickel dollar Whitman folder says it goes from 68-84 on the spine but the inside has printed spots for up to 86 and then 3 blank spaces at the end. So I used one for the 87 and then the final two spaces I used for obverses (one regular and one for the 1982 Constitution dollar).

I'm very glad you were able to finish your 'penny' set, but I am curious about something: What did you put in all the "P" holes for 2007-up? Also, my Whitman (newer version) has four holes for 2006.

I am close to finishing myself (need the 1985 pointed and 2010 steel), and after seeing your Newfoundland cents, I might try them too! Of course, I've also thought hard about starting and completing a Prince Edward Island set also! I'm sure it would make a very unusual folder/album.

From what I understand the P ones were magnetic (copper-plated steel) and the non-P ones were non-magnetic (copper-plated zinc). For 2007 there are both kinds, the zinc one is much harder to find. For 2008 they didn't make any non-magnetic ones so I put one in from a proof set (since they are non-magnetic although made from copper and not zinc I think). 2009 they made both kinds, 2010 they didn't make a magnetic one for circulation (from everything I've read, I could be wrong) so I got one from a broken up uncirculated set (I think these were still made from copper-plated steel and not just copper) as it is magnetic. Then for 2011 and 2012 they have both types in circulation.

Does the newer Whitman folder have spots for these still? I was wondering if they were going to make changes to the version I have, as it only has 3 spots for 2003 (missing a spot for the 2003P Uncrowned which is just sitting in a 2x2).

For the 2006 varieties which 4 does your folder list? I still am unsure about the different kinds for this one, I thought there may have been 6 (L is for RCM logo):

2006P magnetic
2006L magnetic (have)
2006 non-magnetic (have)
2006P non-magnetic
2006L non-magnetic (have)

What other coins would be included in a PEI set? I only have the 1871 1 cent coin.




I will hopefully get there eventually. Right now I am missing many of the ones pre 1900, I have a few other folders where I am just a few coins away from completing that I think I want to finish up first.

Beautiful set and a major accomplishment.

Finished mine when I heard they were discontinuing the penny in 2012. Hadn't looked at my collection in about 30 years. I tried to get as many varieties as possible. Found an EF 1955 NSF in circulation many years ago. Have over 50 1953 SF. Found a 2006 no P mag cent long before I found a 2006 P. I found 3 1962 harp cents in a 10 cent bin. I gave one back and got the other two for nothing. Got 3 1965 Type 4 as a gift. Many of the large cents came from an old tin of pennies my father had. Purchased coins include 1858, 1859 (9/8), 1859 Type 2, 1929 High 9, 1964 xtra spline, 1985 P5, 2008 proof (non mag).
Coins I would like to have: Rest of the 1859 varieties, 1954 NSF, one of the 1891 small date varieties, all of the 200.. P non-mag varieties.
My 5 cent collection is missing only the 1921 and some of the rare early 50's varieties.
