I don't know..kind of looks like glue on the coin and it was pressed against a cloth. Maybe try some acetone?

Sometimes the pressman's wiping rag gets caught in the system.

Whatever it is, it appears to be on both sides of the coin - although the Reverse looks a little different, so I cannot be sure about that. If it is on both sides of the coin then I think it is unlikely that it is struck through cloth, because the planchet would have had to be wrapped in cloth. I am thinking such wrapping would be quite unlikely.

This one is interesting.I dont think it is glue.It would be extremely hard to get those straight but identical patterns by applying glue and then pressing it against cloth.The pattern would not stay uniformed,as it is on this coin.Kanga,I was thinking pressman's rag or possibly a bank bag.Different material has been used for bank coin bags over the years.

Just let the glue dry then pull the rag off and you have a uniformed pattern. The coin did not come from the Mint looking this way. Can't really say it's a damaged coin but definitely can say it was altered. It has no value as it's not an error Edited by jasper62

It is most definitely not an error of any kind. It may not be glue but your coin has been covered with something and it did not leave the Mint looking like that. Whatever it is has been worn off the rim and high points of the design.

Looks like someone fiber glassed the obverse, probably epoxy resin. My guess is it is over weight by a significant amount.

I have not had anytime to get it weighed.However,I did send a pic to my coin dealer.He thinks it was struck through Sand Paper.

Reverse looks like glue with glitter. Just my opinion
