bmanofnbc- Well, I'm not a big fan of TK, but yeah...each to his own artistic sentiments! I'm more of a critic of their sales/marketing tactics. I had a print vendor who did their "paintings", so I know their overhead vs. retail price. Sorry, but I'm rather persuaded it's an outright scam.

quote: I wouldn't hang a Piccasso painting in my house if you GAVE it to me but they are worth a fortune to art collectors.
No, maybe not, but I bet you a shiny nickel that if you saw one for sale for $100 you would buy it. (pretend that you know it is original, and that it isn't stolen.) EDIT: WAIT A MINUTE! ARE WE REALLY COMPARING THE PAINTED ELVIS QUARTER COLLECTION TO PICASSO? (isn't that kinda like comparing a Flowing Hair Large Cent to a LMC?)

If the price on the 1932 quarter and the high shipping is not enough, look at the feedback from buyers. They loved it. Just wait until take it to a local coin shop to sell

Oh my...
The part is - the prices wouldn't be that high if they couldn't get that price. People are investing in their futures with common coinage. They could always pray for the "Amero" currency to come to life and make their heavily overpriced common crap worth some cash. lol

" Littleton is a major ripoof with their prices!" Agreed--but a dealer friend sells a lot of coins to them because it's an easy way to offload for the best price. My conclusion--their prices are high because people pay it. Therefore, don't buy from Littleton, lol

My sister in laws friend buys from Littleton and IIRC only from littleton. ~Thanksgiving 2007~ Just so happened sis-in-law was telling me she found an old coin in the fire pit of her new (actually 100 yr old home) My ears pricked up and I asked "oh really? What did it look like?" "a tiny coin with wings on the head." "ah a Mercury dime or winged liberty coin" " niiiiiice find!" "well you should see her..(points to friend).. collection" Friend says.."sure come upstairs and take a look" Im thinking she has a few coins, pppfftt Tons of coins from Littleton, all in air-tites. Needless to say I was VERY impressed with her collection. I need to give her a call

They are crooks on HSN. They whip people up in a frenzy that you must buy this proof set because it is the greatest investment of all time. its sad and people buy the stuff.

I was just watching "Coin Shoppe" on HSN this Easter evening and one of the guys made the comment that "we have over 300,000 collectors on our auto-ship program since the beginning of the US State Quarter program". They are making LOTS of money off uninformed folks from all over this country.

"They are making LOTS of money off uninformed folks from all over this country." I think it's tragic because a lot of people are using their retirement dollars on this stuff (and some count on it being an "investment") Many of these junk coins are aimed directly at this demographic.

I just finished watching the crooks on HSN. I have no problem calling someone a crook if they charge $1,999.00 for an ounce of gold or $299.99 for a 1/10th ounce Gold eagle. A Proof 70 AGE is not rare. An AGE should grade either PR69 or PR70. But if you watch HSN, they will tell you about its rarity.
What makes it worse is they just sold out on the 2008 proof AGE.
