I'm at MS61. While toned, to me, the strike looks very weak even for a New Orleans coin.

I think the strike looks about right for an O-mint Morgan. I would also give it a 62 or maybe 63 but I don't think the toning is anything special, to me it actually detracts from the appeal of the coin.

Cheek is pretty clean, I'm leaning towards MS-64.

OK, you folks convinced me, because of the fairly clean cheek and probably more because of the clean fields on both OBV & REV. No die clash marks that I can see increases eye appeal. I still don't like the toning but since I don't put much weight on tone one way or the other, I'll revise up to 64. If the cheek were just a little cleaner it might make 65 because the REV is already there.

Sorry, dude, but you've done far, far better images. There isn't a one of them that is evenly lit nor uniformly sharp across the field. You need to clean the lens, hold the camera level and steady and make sure the coin is also level.
For giggles you could throw all the images into a focus stacking program and see what it makes of them...

never a 64, the rim dings at 9-10 o'clock would take of that, ms 62 tops.

The toning is hard to assess, but might be nice in hand. I'd give it an MS-62 or 63.

This is one of the coins I'm going to have Todd photograph next chance I get to see him, or Messydesk would do great with it as well. I think MS 63 is about right. The toning really pops in hand. They have professional photography equipment, appropriate copy stand/work table setup and background/lighting, and far better PP skills. Strangely enough, I find DMPL's easier to photograph than extensively toned specimens such as this. @Burton, these were taken with the camera sitting on the table or on top of a hardback book (2016 Red Book actually) 35-55 mm using my DSLR; I did clean the lens afterwards (hard to realize it's dirty while taking pictures using Live View, especially since I use the dust caps religiously.) Using a 6300K LED Ott-Lite source illuminator and a 60w CFL background. My PP is done with Photoshop CS2 for eV and color balance. I have tremor and my hands shake so you can tell the ones I free-shoot because they tend to be out of focus even with quick trigger and the AF; the Nikon's image stabilizer cannot compensate sufficiently at sub-24" focal lengths or with much more than 40 mm of lens. Heck even w/o a tremor I can't shoot by hand... something about punching the trigger instead of squeezing gently...
Still, sitting on a book should be stable enough for tethered shooting...
Try /1/ using the mirror lockup and /2/ some kind of non-slip pad between the camera and book (a silicone potholder or such)

actually it looks like its a MS64 coin, however, the eye appeal does nothing for me. for toning I look for symmetry and very little if any blotchy-ness. this meets neither of those criteria so I need to knock it down to MS63
