Thanks all, I was on the fence about the proof, and I after the feedback, I think the coin is just very well struck.

I also don't think it's a proof. It is a strong strike. John 1

Does someone have the Snow book? You would think this clash would be listed.

Definitely not a proof and I suspect a Bay Area EDM counterfeit.

Conder is on to something. This thread caught my eye as two-sided clashed dies on IHC are almost unheard of except when caused by MAD or OCC. I have doubts about the authenticity of the coin. I would recommend professional evaluation and certification; Rick Snow would be my first "go-to" point of contact.

Hey all, I am out on a date right now. I am headed home. I have a scale and another 95 I can take a side by side shot of. I pickes the coin up from a local Indianapolis coin shop with a strong reputation. Anyway, if anyone has a way to tell if it is a counterfeit please let me know. Yhanks for the help.

I would recommend that you work out a deal with the LCS: if the coin does not authenticate as genuine by a major TPG, you will be issued a refund in full.

Paralyse, thanks for the great insight. Really interesting, and it helps me learn more about the hobby. I did look on Mr. Snow's website and I saw another 95 that has a mild clash above liberty's eye, similar but not as strong as what is present on this cent. I will attach the pic from Mr. Snow's site. If I was to get the coin authenticated, which TPG would you suggest? Thanks again for the help!

Good research :) PCGS and NGC are the "big two" but ANACS and ICG are less-expensive alternatives. It's just a little extra "peace of mind."
