I live in Finland and local coin seller offered this (he graded it to AU-50) to me for "make an offer and we will see"-price. So I have first dibs on it before it goes for public sale.
This coin is quite rare to be found in Finland and buying it from US is out of question because then price would be (coin price + shipping)* 1,24 (24% VAT).
Decicion is mine to make but most important thing for me is (since I'm new to coin collecting and grading) does this coin qualify as AU-50.

While it has definitely received several strong hits on the obverse, the coin shows little overall wear/metal loss. It may just be an artifact of the lighting used for the images, but it appears to my eyes that the coin may have been subject to a light cleaning at one point - maybe a dip to remove toning? I just seems a bit "flat" in terms of is luster for a coin with such little wear. The Bay Bridge is know for its "creamy" luster vs. flashy luster, however, so the coin's appearance might just be suffering under the lighting used. I think AU is a fair grade for the piece. I was send only these two pictures. I can visit him and see the coin live on next tuesday. But I compared these pictures to several others that has been or are being sold. Also in my (very amateur) opinion luster seems to be little flat. Is it because of lighting, camera angle, foggy capsule, cleaning or dipping. Or am I just imaging things and that is how this coin looks at AU condition  . I wouldn't want to pass this coin but if it has been cleaned or dipped I'm out. |

I don't see any obvious signs of a cleaning ... although concur with the other opinions about the possible subdued luster ... which might indicate an over aggressive dipping. Regardless of the surface conditions ... the obverse portrait bag marks ... to my eye ... are visually distracting. There are much better examples out there in this same AU grade range. David |

Took quite awhile for this update but I bought that coin. Toning looks quite different when out of capsule (even with my photo skills). I haven't seen any of these sold here before so I just had to buy it.   |

Congratulations on your purchase ... I can imagine these are not every day available in your country!
Hopeful that this is a USA classic silver commemorative that you enjoy in your collection for many years.

I haven't seen this coin sold in Finland before. Seller said it is really rare to see this coin in Finland and yes I am enjoying this coin and it will stay in my collection.

I sent this coin for PCGS Paris (France 20-25.03.) grading week. For money wise it wasn't reasonable thing to do. But being my first "expensive" coin added to my collection I had to do it.
I'll post grade results with pictures when I get my coin back.

This one was a bummer but my other coin graded well so overall I'm happy with results.  |
