Help Grading 1910 D $10 And 1885 Liberty Nickel

I'm not into gold coins ,but that V-NICKEL is a high end piece ,probably mid AU . Mucho bucks .

1910-D looks MS63 with a shot at MS64; this is the most common mintmarked coin of the $10 Indians, I believe. It does appear to be a bit softly struck or mushy, which is a bit worrisome. I'm no expert on these by any means, not even close. Professional authentication by a TPG is HIGHLY recommended for both of your coins.

The 1885 Liberty nickel is probably the highest graded example I've seen in quite some time. But there doesn't seem to be much luster showing through in the photos, the color looks a bit off, and there are signs of circulation -- if genuine, and without being able to see the actual luster, if any, the grade could go anywhere from AU Details/Cleaned to AU55, with a shot at 58 if the luster and eye appeal are much better than the picture shows.

If you Google "Numismedia FMV" you can find a free online price guide that will give you a fairly reasonable valuation for your coins.

Thank you all for you opinion. I will crack open my safe this weekend and try to take better photos with my DSLR camera using a macro lens. The pictures posted was taken with my cell phone camera. I believe the mushy look of the 1910 d is because of the not so high detail photo. In my opinion it looks very sharp with virtually no marks except on the obverse cheek by the hair line.

This is the first time I have considered getting coins graded and will buy a PCGS gold collectors club membership. Could these be submitted using the vouchers given or should I opt for the express service?

I haven't submitted anything since March, so I had no idea turnaround times had grown so large.

Thanks for the advise. Sounds like you are really into Morgans. I started with Morgans but since branched off to collect just about everything high quality silver, rare, and gold coins with most ungraded. I have a beautiful 1878cc reverse toned in a GSA soft pack along with others. I think now is the time to get most of my coins graded since I have over 2000+ coins and slowed down a bit with my collection.I am not a member for ANA or any other TPG company but I will definitely get a PCGS account. I am not planning to sell any at this point so I don't mind waiting. My only concern is getting coins lost in the mail. That is the reason I have never submitted any but will give it a try.

I guess grading and upgrading will now be my new hobby along with building my AU/BU set of Mercury dimes. Attached is an old picture of the Mercury's I have. The empty slots are now filled except for the 1916D, 1921's. I have those coins but not in the AU/BU condition to fill this set.

Fantastic! They are really difficult to acquire in any AU grade.
