Hi Stephanie, to CCF!

Coins like this were very common back in the 1990's. They're very slightly off centre. Sorry, not Mules.

Hi nevol
Thanks for the welcome.
I knew it was off center I was more curious about why it has the 5c obverse on it? Are there ways to tell if this is legit things like weight etc?

Thanks for the reply bigsilver it is interesting how they make those.

Better pictures make it seem even more like a Magician's coin. That would be to say that someone hollowed out a $2 coin and inserted a 5c coin in its center.
Is that possibly the story with your coin?

Hey big silver I dont know but I dont think so it still has the reeded edge and the second rim doesn't run all the way around the coin. Do you know what the weight is of a 2dollar coin?

6.60grams

The Obv of the coin is the correct colour for a $2, and is probably the correct size as well.

No way it's a Magicians coin as the reason for making a Magician's coin is usually to make it
appear as though it is double headed.

Why go to the trouble of hollowing one side out & replace it with the obv of the same coin that he/she just happened to have lying around.

Pretty dumb magician.

It is simply a stock standard $2 of the time, slightly off centre.

I am still thinking that it is a counterfeit. The surfaces appear very grainy and the off-center strike is quite common to counterfeits I have seen, though this is quite pronounced.

I'm no expert but a good chance its a fake, the Aboriginal without the eyes was the main marker for a large batch a few years back.

That coins looks counterfeit from those images, they are not that rare if it is so. See the following links.
