It's only getting more difficult because it's becomming such a popular/obsessive sport now !......it's hard to find a place where others haven't gone before!........eventually all we'll find is other people's "dump stations" I fear!

Silver is still in circulation! I picked two boxes of halves last saturday and foumd a few mentionable coins. I found a 1920 Walker, 2 franklins, a 1964 and 8 40% silver clads. Not much, but I'm happy I found something. The silver is still out there and I have two more boxes of halves coming this weekend. Also, the bank was able to secure 100 Ikes from their money center for me, I'll post the results on saturday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a possible silver dollar!

The results of the last two days searching customer rolls: 68 rolls, 8 90% and 44 40%. Again, as everyone knows, you have to work hard and make an effort to have good results. Don't just drive around to banks and ask for halves; that is a waste of time. Work the phone before you leave! Call ahead, and ask for the teller area. When you get someone on the phone from the teller area, don't just ask if they have any half dollars. I found early on that when you do that they just check their coin trays. Make sure that you ask them to check the vault, too. That is where most branch banks keep the halves. Good luck!

I'm in the Dallas area, and haven't found silver in many months so I'm off it for a while. I bet I've done at least 20 boxes w/ nada. actually haven't done anything w/ coins in a few months...kinda off track right now.

jeremymh, Ask for anything you want. They're $10 a roll. I've found about as many in the tellers loose change as rolls, so don't forget them. Customer wrapped are doing me better than Brinks wrap but I had some Brinks wrap about 6 months ago that gave me 30 40% and 10 90%. 2 were walkers and 2 were Franklins. I've been telling the tellers up front that I don't have and account here and they are nice and friendly, well for the most part. Don't look exclusively for silver, there's other money in there. 1973 D and 1974 D have a rare double die in the "We Trust". The 1987 P&D were NIFC. Do little research and find out others that are NIFC. Go for it.

Not Intended For Circulation.
That is, minted for collectors only and not general monetary use.

Yipeee...I started this thread, and it's been 10 boxes with nada! However, I'm trying BOA for the first time and 2 boxes will be here for me tomorrow..., so, Of-Grampa and everyone, I'll see if I also have the kind of luck you did!!
