Is this another version of the 1942/41?
There are two overdates for 1942, one minted in Denver, the other in Philly:

1942/1-P:
1942-D-Merc--What-Do-You-See?

1942/1-D:
1942-D-Merc--What-Do-You-See?

Correct. The author's example would certainly appear to be the Denver mint version. Well done.

My fingers are crossed! It sure looks like it to me. Good luck!

Are you sure that isn't a stock photo?

Looks like I'll be cracking my tube of mercs tomorrow, I just checked the P'syears ago! Thanks for the explanation, Thulium.

Coin arrived--it's the same as in the seller pics, but not the 42/1--just a trick of lighting.

More like: "You win some, you lose more."

I know the feeling.

Yeah--I was disappointed for sure! Then again, there's always some doubt until the coin arrives--and I learned something from this too.

Same thing happened to me a few months back. It really did look like it, though. I would have gone for it.

I fell for something similar about 8 months ago . the seller listed a 1943-P War Nickel in CH.AU for like $5. The thing is the more I looked at his photos the more I could swear that it was the 1943/2 error . So I bought it
and was in suspense until I received it .The lighting fooled me, it really looked like the over date .
