What a beauty, a little bit of wood grain, MS-64BN all day.

My only ding...it's missing the woody reverse. :(
But still a NICE coin!

Update: Grading results are in! . . . I was slightly disappointed. I had a bit higher hopes for this one. I guess it just didn't have the luster..

Typical PCGS "we hate woodies" down grade....I'm still in the 63 camp.

I'm going to have to re-evaluate my coins that I think are AU+, probably are low MS BN pieces that need sent off.
Still a gorgeous woody.

It's true, I was 50/50 when I bought it on whether it was AU or MS from the seller photos, and even a bit when I had it in hand. There's lots of early Lincolns out there that have weaker strikes that look like wear.

Quote: There's lots of early Lincolns out there that have weaker strikes that look like wear. Actually, this is an EDS coin, there is a great amount of detail but it's hidden in the toning. The beard detail is particularly impressive, but a little weak at the highest points. The obverse die just didn't fully fill....but it's EDS. One of those branch mint things where they didn't have the pressure quite dialed in. On the reverse notice the O in ONE and the PLURIBUS. Those are opposite the shoulder - so the reverse die didn't fill either. It's easy to mistake these areas as "wear". A clue to it being mint state is in the oft ignored rims. They are clean pretty clean on this coin. Did you take these pictures? They look like mine. LOL

Yeah, I took em. I'm pretty bad at taking photos, so I'm constantly trying to use different backgrounds and lighting to see what works best. I've tried everything from a blank white envelope to a black photography cloth to a wooden desk. These were the seller pics. I couldn't see enough detail on the obverse, I used the reverse wheat stalks to determine that it was mint state.

Bad? No, you're photos are great! The only thing they need is a crop....lighting, focus and white balance are great.
