Dad had a large collection, but I suspect most of it is just like this... sort of a novelty, but not worth anything. Just a "for fun" collection.

I have a few myself 1970 1971 1943 but I think they are chrome plated - I don't know how to tell the difference if they are chrome or silver though. I also have a couple of gold plated ones. They rust out so bad that this is actually a good way to keep them decent looking. Silly me  to CCF family, keep coming back. Edited by CoinCents

Looks more like a mercury rubbed cent. We use to do this all the time in the 60s, we also ran with knifes  |

Altered coins are usually about face value. (wheat cents are still treasured)

Did anyone note the differences on the plated coins?  I feel the upper coins were plating three times (which they do for copper) and the lower ones were just plated once. Note the differences in the surface of the coins? |
