I have an 8oz silver eagle. It has some nice neon rim toning too! Funny thing is it says "half pound" on it but it weighs 8 troy oz. Strange

was chatting with the us mint today as they shipped one of my items and it got lost. after many transfers got to talk with someone high up in shipping. seamed to no a lot. I ask him if he thought they would be any more of the 2017S silver eagles available later this year. He said not unless they are returned to the mint as it was a fast sale out. I crawled him about letting the big box stores have them and not us little people, as they were asking $200 each for them. He just said sorry , nothing I can do. But the 2017 S proof would be coming. He was a very nice guy that works for the mint and not his fault , I guess.

I do my worst thinking early in the morning as I wake each day between 3 and 4. No one else is up so not to bother them I lay there and think. This morning I was thinking about precious metal (silver) and coins. Trying to decide to buy silver coins and SE's or precious metal, be it 1oz 3oz or 5oz. I do prefer the rounds over square or rectangle. I can buy half dollars for $8 to $25 or Eagles for $22. Or bullion $20 and up. Down the road what would be the best to have. I do not plan on selling it, invest for my family.

Your choice but I would go with .999 silver whatevers over junk halves or other circ coins As was mentioned: Quote:The bullion ASE's are a pure spot silver play and their value will reflect that. Minimal collector value added to the raw coins. The mint marked ASE's are a pricier collector item than, depending on origin and mintage, can have significant added collector value or none at all. I used to buy a couple of rolls of each bullion ASE issue when they were released but now have switched to a single roll of the 5 ounce silver ATB pucks. I also buy the collector versions as well.... Decide whether you want to invest in silver or collect ASE's...(and there are other less costly silver products if you are JUST investing in silver) I also collect 10 oz. silver bars when there are dealer sales...JM Bullion has had a decent ongoing offer for a while. Buy a 10 ounce silver bar at zero premium over spot. One per HH

One thing bars have going for them - they stack very well and take up less space than rounds.

That's a CAPS album and I have a couple for my ASEs. They're solid, good-looking and well-constructed. If there is one downside to them it is that they are very large. There are two current threads in the supplies forum if you'd like to see a couple photos. Here and here.
