Sandy,

Here's one I came across this weekend. Have a look and if you want me to take a picture of a specific area, let me know. I haven't attempted to attribute this one yet, but maybe we can piggyback here.

JC - wonderful input! I don't have access to the reference you mentioned, but happy to know that it exists. No crack on my specimen either. But I do see a few die scratches that might line up with something.

Really Nice Rackster, yours is in so much better condition than mine. Glad to have you aboard :) I am still waiting on Druu to post some close ups of his, maybe he will have time to get to them today. Hopefully JC will be able to help you out too.

Pete had one a couple of months back and that it how they first came to my attention.

Thanks - I picked up a number of chipped die specimens this past weekend. Maybe 6 or 7 different chip/chip-combination specimens. This reference JC mentioned has me thinking!

My coins are mainly AU specimens, so even though you have a circulated specimen, there may be markers I can help you with. Always glad to try anyway!

Well just in case we have the same reverse die. I thought I had a couple of die gouges (see my images above), but JC thinks they are probably just PMD. Can see if you have any die gouges down in that area? Or if you can spot some different die markers on your reverse that I can look for on mine.

I can't usually pick up on the die scratches, but I can (most of the time) find the gouges, die dents, cracks etc.

Thanks Rackster, I appreciate it.

Do you think these are all from the same Obverse Die and just different die stages?

Hi Sandy - leaning towards different die states at this time. I didn't see either anomaly on my specimen. The reverse is pretty clean aside from scratches from brushing but there was a crack between the E and C bridging ONE CENT. Have a look at your specimen. Here's a picture to help.

No don't have a die crack there :(

Here is Pete's Skirted R Post - his has the most extra die chips - no crack in that area on his either.
His is the latest die stage of all of ours then. At until we get Druu's images.

All 4 of our's are very different.

Pete's specimen is an SD example too. I have three variants of this date/mm as well, but not like Pete's. Given the problems they had in that year, I suspect that there are a ton of these (like the RPMs).
Rest in Peace

Coincents, take a look at this...think you may have the LDS of this RPM, see what appears to be a bit of lower hook on yours as well:

Quote:
Large date. Another of the lower east hook varieties, this one has a very close spread. This one exhibits a die chip inside the upper area of the 9 of the date in later die states.

(from http://www.coppercoins.com)

Just not sure of MM placement? Pretty sure of RPM tho, lower hook variety.

Thanks Crazyb0, I have never found an RPM so that would be awesome. I'll check it out.

Sorry Rackster I didn't even think to look for the LD SD variety on it, been too focused on the R. Too bad all this great stuff isn't online. But, the way JC explained it - they are all hand drawn images of them it would be pretty tough.

Edit: No match - Thanks though

Very nice finds!
I have found a 1960 D die chip in 9 before...but I accidentially threw it back in the box and I couldn't find it!

Sorry, I forgot about this thread yesterday. Until I saw it this afternoon and transferred images from my phone. Then I promptly forgot about it until now. Anyway, here are images of my coin for comparison. Definitely in circulated condition.
