This coin had quite a bit of verdigris that obscured the reverse details. I did a little restoration and removed most of the verdigris to reveal the detail. Found out that the mark is not and Epsilon but a C instead. This mark is known but not listed in Svoronos.

LOL. I think Ron is being coy.

My guess: you took it to the local ice rink, slapped it around for a while with your hockey stick, and left most of that green stuff staining the ice.

I have heard several plausible theories, but nothing conclusive.

One reason is that it is said that they were shaped using a lathe, that's why you also see circular lines on the surface of some of them.
