Quote: The two-loonie set arrived today. Nice and simple; no surprises or wow factor. Plenty of frosting, not a ton of detail. Saw it in the CP in GTA... I liked the coins. Btw, always wondered, why our Loonie not nickel, when it "white", it looks much better. Presentation case isn't good - oversized compares the space required for 2 coins.

Checking the other forum and saw interesting detail: The RCM $2 rolls are highly popular, but people not buying them from RCM!! Looks like, if you have connections in the bank, you can order via them. One of the dealers had them for CAD 61+tax I found it expensive, but knowledgeable people ordering 20-50 of them. Looks like I missed good deal.

You have go to individual banks and ask for them which can be very time consuming considering most of them don't have any. So that leaves the dealers. Lowest is $61.99 but they are sold out. Gatewest has them for $74.99. On ebay they are going for over $100 per roll.

$100 per roll is about the same that the RCM charges for the specially wrapped one, although, you would have to buy the whole set and pay tax on that as well to acquire it. I managed to get a bank roll for $70 taxes included.

Thank you for clarification. As I see it - if you roll collector, yes, grab one or two for CAD 70+ from the dealer and it's all. To "make some money" on it - only if it will continue to raise up. Just to have some of the coins - better to get singles for CAD 4 ( with shipping from a dealer) or CAD 6-8 from ebay. That day for curiosity I visited 3 different banks in the area. In 2 of them I have been told : "Mister, I have no idea what you speaking about, if you need CAD 50 cash, I can give you in the bills" and in the third bank "Sure we have some change here around, but as you know, banks do not receive the coins in the rolls, so I can give you some Loonies. 2017 Loonies? No, nothing like that, but some regular Loonies"

@Falcon: Very nice! Congrats on being able to pickup one of the gold sets.
They look great - the platinum on gold enhances the designs nicely.

Falcon, I love loonies as well, and the gold ones you have are beautiful! Maybe some day I will get to see a set in person, but with only 350 sets, it may take a while. Great addition, and enjoy them.

The gold loonies look very nice, but too rich for me. It looks like RCM has 9 more sets back in stock.

The gold Loons really are nicely done, I would've preferred that they were the correct size, but either way my OCD wouldn't let me not have them

Finally received the 2017 Maple Leaf Forever coin from Post Canada: According to RCM's plating law: whenever there is plating, there are imperfections. For example, the pink gold plating is a bit misaligned. Still, I'm going to keep this coin. I love the theme, the design, the low mintage, and the value (compared to silver).
