It's also important to consider 17.5% buyers premium for HA pickups.

The buyers premium is included in the sale price. When people make their bids and set limits, they factor in the buyers premium. So essentially the seller ends up paying the premium as coins remain in the fair value range that they have sold for in previous auctions and price guides. The only exception is coins with exceptional eye appeal. Those can sell for 20% to 50% over book value.

Second set of photos are from heritage. They show few hairlines and dull surface. The first set are from a recent seller and may be more recent, showing more hairlines and a brighter surface. The pictures are of the same coin.
Do you think the 2014 photos were shot in a way that hid the hairlines and they were always there, or do you think the first, more recent set of shots show new hairlines acquired from a cleaning attempt after 2014?

I wondered that and it has probably not acquired new hairlines. Images hide/reveal a lot and the bright light in the newer images likely reveals more hairlines. The Heritage photos are darker and perhaps angled to better diminish their appearance. |
