I don't know why people were questioning. It's not in a typical basement slab. PCI can be counted on for authenticity. Heck, they even noticed the corrosion and put it in its red details slab.

Although if it were mine I'd probably send to anacs just to have it in a top 3 slab. They have an awesome special right now of 8 coins for $75 with return shipping included. You simply can't beat that.

I believe there is a whole bucket full of general LWC collectors who would cherish having this particular coin in their collection.

Cascade - OLD PCI - that is the green/red/blue (foreign) box labels can be trusted.

Not much after that.

Also be careful, the green labels were revised with intent to defraud in 2010-2011, see http://www.coinweek.com/coin-clubs/...eering-laws/

The give away is that the green line on the back is blobs on the fakes, vs. micro print PCI PCI PCI on the genuine.

I sent to coin into PCGS with a batch from the local coin shop, being charged $18/coin, which I thought was reasonable.
He thought the 'environmental damage' may have actually been some faulty cleaning, but didn't see much for 'damage' after taking it out of the slab and analyzing it.
I didn't know ebay forbids PCI slabs to be sold on their site and will take them down, hence the listing not having the entire slab in the pictures.
I am hoping it keeps the F-12 grading and doesn't come back as a 'details' coin, we shall see what they say. I figured it was worth a shot. Even if it get knocked down to VG but doesn't have any 'damage' classification, I will call it a win.
I shall find out in a month or so.

You're gonna do just fine. I am pretty certain this coin is genuine. $250 very well spent!

Congrats on the find and good luck on the new grade. I think you did the right thing sending it to PCGS.

Me? Personally, I would buy this coin for that price any day of the week.

IMO, you scored nicely.

Congrats!

Nice coin for the money!

I was always happy with the coins I had that were in the old PCI holders. Red, green, blue....didn't matter to me!

Just found this topic and read through.

I think you took a slight risk but, in my book, really no risk at all considering the safeguards in place. If I had had the funds available, I would have purchased it too.

I think you did the right thing getting it submitted to PCGS and for $18, why the heck not?!

Best of luck on the outcome.
