If it were a P and it were a mint mark, it would mean they struck the obverse in Philadelphia and the reverse in San Francisco - which would be quite a feat. |

I bought it from a seller who knew it was a rare "S" 1921 coin and described it as a "very collectible coin". But it does not seem to understand much of the quality of American coins, because I paid a fairly low price. About 250 euros. And since it is a very old coin dealer (though not American), I decided to release photos to check if there is any doubt about the authenticity of the coin. Now we are waiting for the result.

As far as the POSITION goes, I think you'll be fine. I pawed through a few dozen dateless 21-S examples I had on hand until I found this one. Yeah...I know it's hard to make a comparison between the two...one looks AU-ish and mine looks Junk-o-lish...but there's enough there for me to say I think you done good!   |

Just curious. Does anyone know of a resource decribng mint mark location varieties due to different planchets for Buffalo nickels? I know there are several resources out there for LWC but I don't remember seeing them for these coins. I could troll ebay and work on my own but why reinvent the wheel? |

Hi again all :) The coin was professionally cleaned by the PCGS dealer, showed a lot of lustre (He said that - I have not seen her yet), and I've just learned it was certified as MS61 in USA-PCGS-office - it's already added to the PCGS report. So, just for information, it is an authentic coin. :)

It is less necessary to buy large volumes of coins when you can triple (plus) your investment on smaller quantities.  |
