I would argue that's a small S, the large S would not have the serif on top and the bottom of the S pointing toward west. Large S has the bottom serif slanted to the east. 5 O'Clock position.
Edit: Similar to the Trumpet Tail style for the dime and quarter.

I say yours is small (NORMAL) S - Large S is much closer to the base/steps of the monument.
How about a picture of the reverse that isn't so magnified?

The locations of the mint marks will vary because they are hand punched. So unless there was just one die that had the maybe be common or rare. Depending on how many dies were punched with each mint mark.

There's an article out there that uses the placement of the S as the diagnostic. I found it early on and used that briefly but in the end, the article is near worthless. The way to determine if you have the Large S or the regular one is to look at the font. Looking at the photos above, the Large S is thinner and the tails more pronounced. This is helpful when looking at circulated specimens. And as a CRH enthusiast, I've found a number of Large S specimens.
