I'll go VG08.Good hair detail and visible lines in the ears of both wheat stalks. All letters pretty strong and readable.

I think it sneaks up on VG-10.

I agree with moxking...a bit better than an 8, but still a bit too much wear on the wheat.

, just barley makes vg-10. Not the best strike, but not the worst buy either!

Even tho some line on stalks, uneven wear on front left is gonna keep it in G-06 to G-08 range. At least MM is clear, known for weak strikes. Personally, wouldn't have paid more than 50 times FV

LDS reverse, I can see most of the wheat lines. At G-VG, the lines are mostly gone. The wheat grains are still well separated and defined. Even wear on the obverse high points, worn down to the ear but you can still see it clearly. It's an honest coin, don't remove the grit, it gives it character. F-12

It looks like a lot of the wheat lines are visible, and I am thinking the coin looks better than the pictures are making it appear. F-12 for me.

Tough pics but I'm in at F12 - I suspect there is separation between that jaw and cheek. Wheat lines are probably hidden by the lighting as well.

The only VG requirement I cannot determine is "the ear opening is visible." I'd still say VG-6 even if the ear opening is hard to discern; VG-8 if it's clearly visible.

Btw, I think $1.00 is a good deal for this coin. The NumisMedia FMV (fair market value) is $1.44 (VG-8), and I checked the 'sold' listings on ebay where I did not find any 1916-D LWC in VG selling for under $1.50. Plus you usually have to pay some postage if purchased on ebay.

Sells for VG money because it is VG. No way those wheat lines on either side suggest Fine.
