If I had $160 on hand (which I'm unlikely to, but ignoring that for the moment), I'd probably buy them, then try to sell the big note for $170 or so on first opportunity and keep the other two for a rainy day. I agree that the bank will probably consider them counterfeit (especially the hundred) - IIRC those early issues don't pass the " Counterfeit Detection" pen? If she's nice, I might as well buy them just so that she wouldn't get in jail for counterfeiting money (I myself don't intend to put them in a bank, even if that was a possibility - at worst I'd just pass them on to the next sucker).

I would buy them for face then use them to trade for something I really like that was of greater value.

You have literally nothing to lose, provided $160 won't make or break your ability to pay the bills this month. If nothing else, you have a thread full of people who are drooling over these bills. You need 250 posts to sell, so chat for a while and list them here!
Banks send these things to be shredded! Even if you need to sell them at face to someone else, save the bills from their fate!

It makes no sense not to save them from the shredder.

I'd rather spend $160 on something I want. I know, novel idea.

If you decide not to take them, let us know, someone will want them.
They are worth more than face value, no question, I would take them in a heart beat.

Thanks for all the replies! I am in a position to just buy them and put them away. I was shocked at the counterfeit replies. Is this common with these notes? I would hate to buy these and then worry about my daughter trying to get rid of them. I know these are legitimate bills. My friends wife is a hair dresser and was paid with these bills from older costumers over the years. Any money out of the ordinary she would hold on to.
Thanks again everyone. I will keep you updated.

The "counterfeit" comments are only because these notes are rarely (if ever) seen in circulation these days. Not many folks outside of the hobby know they exist so will automatically be suspicious. Think of all the "counterfeit" $2 note horror stories....

If I could afford to keep them I would buy them in a heartbeat for face value.

The bank will take them and send them off to the shredder. They are definitely worth saving from the shredder, and will provide you with a profit anytime you want to sell.

I would buy anything for face value.
Worst case scenario if you fall on hard times or what have you you can spend them and you are out nothing.
