USING my collection to grow my collection.

I put up on C. L. 10 crummy Morgans and 1 Peace dollar at $275 ~~ $25 ea.

In about 36 hours I got an offer to buy at my price. I offered obo (?)

Last week I bought some MS+++ Morgans and Peace at a lower price. So I feel I am trading up on the deal

Will up-date if he is a show or no show.

UP-DATE

He showed.

Cash in hand ~~ on his first encounter. Smooth transaction. Got him to drive 40 miles to my near by QT.

===========================

Have an appointment to sell him 23 Morgans, Peace, and ASE. I bought some "Good" Peace dollars off the net, and some similar Morgans. Had 2 ASE I had lost interest in.

Appointment noon Monday. Feel safe him coming to my home. he drives 'bout 40 miles

Slowly getting ahead on trading up on my quality of coins.

... or at least putting cash ib my hands to buy something in the future.

.... see my next post

Always amazes me how some collectors prefer only one type of coin. I sort of do that but also all the others too.

Using my collection to grow my collection.

For a long time, I have had a lot of low grade silver coins dating back to the 1800s. $75 in face. (Not counting my Silver dollars)

I have lost interest in them. Soooo I began calling LCDs to try for a quote on FACE X (?)

Turns out that their not in demand.

Over the phone one crummie dealer quoted 13. Next day it was 11 times FACE. Bummer

Now to the juicy results. I called a "PAWN" dealer. He was on C. L. $75 FACE = $900 in 'bout one hour. I can do a lot of low ball bidding with $900 fresh dollars to work with

My objective is to use my new cash to buy Morgan-Peace and sell them to my new acquaintance. At the same time I get to keep any coins that coins my way

Personal results for me. More fun. Love my IKEs. but a little burnt out.

yeah -- it was IKEs for me. Mainly because I was able to get FED RES BANK $1,000 BAGs -- but no more

In his case he is a 110 % silver starker.

Keep the best and sell the rest
Use that money to buy better coins.
Periodically, do an inventory and repeat.

Use your collection to build your collection

Off again

Had an ad for 4 Morgans and 6 Peace Silver dollars (circulated) on C. L. -- my price meet at bank EOM

Got a nibble. I shot back a polite "Sorry I can not take $9 loss on each Silver dollar."

So he raised his offer -- a little -- I switched to IKEs

Then I offered him 100 UNC IKEs @ $2 each. He took an instant interest, on the IKEs alone.

From the beginning he ask me if I had paypal. I told him I do, but would not ship. We may have had 20 emails going back and forth in 48 hours.

In the end he offered me a compromise on the 10 common date, circulated Silver dollars and $2 for the 100 UNC IKEs

I have a new interest in Barber half dollars. I am currant bidding at "melt" value, plus a little.
