Mostly 2X2 and storage boxes. I don't like flips for some odd reason.

I took the plunge for my collection and went with CAPS albums that use the Airtight capsules. Yes, they are big. Yes, they are expensive. Yes, they are a bit of paint to put into and out of the album. But they protect your coins about as well as possible, look great, and are reasonably flexible. I use it for all of the sets I am collecting (Franklins, Roosevelts, Washington quarters, etc.). I store misc. coins in the self-sealing 2x2s in 3 ring albums. Often, I use these for random coins, "extras" that don't quite make the mark to be put into my CAPS albums, or items I just find that are good deals and want to hold onto for future sale or trading. I also use "Eagle Holders' for my mint sets and also for a few sets that I am creating of slabbed (certified) coins. For example, I am putting together a slabbed set of Peace dollars, and will use a Eagle Coin album for that. Agree that 2x2s are by far the most prevalent and flexible, but not the best for real protection or a high-quality display. Lots of options, and really everything has some degree of trade-off between cost, size, flexibility, ease of use, and protection capabilities. Michael

I am not brave enough to use Danscos. Worried about scratching them with the slides. I do like their presentation. I had some self sealing 2x2's I bought some coins in back in the 80's and eventually they lost their adhesiveness and glue dried crumbling.

I was using coinedge holders and pages. Liked them a lot but it appears they're discontinued. Trying the cheaper version of CAPS that are on ebay. They're not too bad.

I mostly use the self adhesive cardboard 2x2s, plenty of space for labelling, then store these in albums. I use the lighthouse albums as they're strong and look nice, also come with a slipcase, which is good. Dust in between pages drives me crackers. I also have a large wooden box designed to hold around 400 2x2s for stuff I want to keep hold of, but not display. Finally, I also use acid free paper envelopes, they're dirt cheap and safe for coins awaiting attribution - plenty of space for making notes.

The vast majority of mine are in Dansco albums. My best ones are all in my safe. I also keep several containers of silica gel inside it to counteract any elements. Duplicates are either in albums and/or 2x2s, or tubes stored outside of the safe. I do have a long storage box for 2x2s where my best coins go.
I'm fairly fortunate to live in an area where the climate changes aren't drastic. I also try to keep the windows shut when the humidity climbs over 40%. I figure the less high humidity my coins are exposed to, the better.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Thanks for all of the recommendations. I've decided to get a couple of Dansco albums to start, I like the way they display coins. I was thinking about 2X2's, but think I'll use those for series I'm just starting to collect where I don't have an album yet. The CAPS system looks really nice too! Thanks for mentioning it. It ultimately was more money than I wanted to spend at first though.

Danscos are probably the most popular of the coin albums that are "press in" with "slide covers". I have a few, and they are definitely a good value for the money. I also like the Lighthouse albums as well, probably almost as much as the Danscos, but they don't have quite the same variety/selection.
I have now moved to the CAPS, but agree that they are a big investment, both in size and cost, especially when you factor in the cost of the capsules you need to purchase separately.
Enjoy!

The albums just arrived from Desert Dansco and I really like them! Very cool looking. Now I just have to get some coins to fill them up with. :)
