XF50, Details...been dipped/cleaned...carbon(?) spots on reverse look like residuals of unremovable staining. That said, you can always send it to me if you find it unacceptable, free of course, will reimburse for postage...

(Sorry, turkey affects me this way, why I eat it only once a year!)

You're right - no doubt. Bad hip shot.

Appears flat and completely devoid of luster. What a shame, that's a very tough coin to find in high grades.

I'm new to this and trying to hone my grading skills, so pardon the newbie question. What details are you seeing that tip you off that the coin has been cleaned?

Jaunty , this one may be a little hard to tell from the eyes of a Newbie . But the reverse is lacking that original Wheat cent color be it brown ,red or red & brown , this coin exhibits a slight dull pinkish color on it's reverse .
indicating a cleaning .

Thanks T-Bop! I was thinking it might have been the very light apparent scratches on the obverse field. Good to know that I was on the wrong track.
