This is a 1988 D, and to meeeee it looks like I can see another image like Lincoln in the third pillar down, seems like there is other little odds of imprints of his image in other windows as well.

The dark color on the coin is staining on the plating. The bumps in the fields are from plating over dust on the zinc planchet.

Looks like a little bit of discoloration, which certainly wouldn't be unusual for an '88D. But nothing of any numismatic note.

Actually for an '88D that coin really doesn't look too bad.

Yea Emily, we like coins in their right threads, but to answer your question @ dime, is damaged by a machine, same all around the coin, same distance from rim...Coin wrapping machine? Vending machine? Coin counter/sorter? All can cause this. Do some studying on what error coins are, what's a mint error and what isn't.
