Thanks everyone!

After doing some research I'm wondering if this might be a VAM 88 Pitted Liberty's Head. That would explain Liberty's face.

The pics are very bright and tough to read. The reverse looks great and easily gem level. The obverse does not look as good and the obverse strike is below average for this date. I'd guess MS64 from these images but that's only a conservative guess. Hard to go wrong for $40 though.

Not sure what's going on with the cheek, but it looks like an easy 64 otherwise. Some of the surfaces are washed out by the lighting, and it's hard to assess those areas. Might be PL, or just harsh lighting.

Got the coin in today as well as mu new Canon camera and 100 mm macro lens... the fields on the coin are VERY reflective but not easy to capture...

I'm still at MS63 and it looks like a good shot at PL, more so on the reverse than obverse. Welcome to DSLR coin photography.
