Some very nice examples here!

Had to think about this for a while but here's my favorite from 2017.

What an odd piece! Vulcanized rubber coins.... sounds like they'd last longer than Zincolns.

Since ancients aren't represented here, let me present this Roman denarius from 138 AD commemorating the deification of Emperor Hadrian's wife Sabina.

This was my first purchase of the year and remains one of my more expensive purchases ever. But I am a sucker for Roman ladies, and found this coin to be too gorgeous to pass up, so I bid and paid accordingly.

I have four favorites from this yeat, though one is a definite favorite.

This coin is the favorite coin I own. It is a Roman Republic denarius struck by the moneyer Lucius Hostilius Saserna. The imagery is very haunting, which I love.

This is my favorite Chinese coin. It is a very large, impressive, and rare hollow-handle spade. I had never thought I would own one, but here I am.

1825 Half Dollar graded AU-55 by ANACS. I had been wanting one of this date and variety for years, and I was finally able to get one that has beautiful color and booming luster. Capped Bust Halves are my favorite US series (not my favorite design, but they are the most interesting).

1820 Large Cent graded MS-62 by NGC. N-13, and very likely from the Randall hoard. I sold my VF details 1797 large cent for this coin, and I have zero regrets. The quality of the toning and luster is very uncommon for UNC early large cents, and according to just about everyone who has seen it, it is undergraded.

No doubt about my favorite purchase of 2017. A huge thank you to our resident expert, Commems, for hand-picking this one for me!
