I am not a fan of these either.
I had a roll several years ago and had to break the plastic to remove the coins.

What do you mean by "soft plastic"? That makes me worry about PVC. It's flexible. Here's one of the end caps. The tube is just as flexible. Not sure about the PVC thing. I think the coins have been in this tube from almost day-one, 60+ years? The coins have not been affected.  |

Mine was brittle plastic. I see these are different than the ones I had.

They are all in pristine condition. Not as easy coming out as the screw tops. I put an old cent at one end and used a screw driver to slowly push them thru, no problem. I'm not afraid of moisture, that's why I want more of these. |

They are definitely not as secure and air tight as the one I posted above. I need to add that I'm looking for these for long term storage. Not opening and closing the tubes ever five minutes. Again, I can't say what this one is made out of but PVC was apparently not a problem. But thanks anyway for those links Debrajc! Edited by USSID18

They definitely keep the coins tight and secure with no rattling, but I've had the same problem as Crazyb0 getting the coins out. I guess if you're going to store them for decades they'd be fine. Don't know where you can get them anymore, though.

Roll your coins in polyethylene Glad Wrap.
Food safe polyethylene is also perfectly safe for coins.

Hard tubes avoid the too tight problem and there isn't any rattling with a full tube.

Tom ,stay away from soft pliable coin tubes . 99% sure they contain PVC . I've been using the round hard plastic tube with screw on cap for 45 years with no problem . If your that concerned about being air tight ,wrap a good quality tape around the cap & tube , or like I used to do many years ago , seal the caps onto tubes with slightly melted wax .  |

Considering the condition of the coins in these tube after so many years, I was thinking they would be more popular. I guess not.
