How much will graffiti devalue the coin? I know its hard to say and then if the demand for a coin is there, then there may be minimal devaluing? Is there a reason behind graffiti such as this on this old of a coin? Thanks

Graffiti hurts the value .. a lot
Many collectors would not consider buying a coin with graffiti, even at a cheap price.

Value by graffiti damage I would say at minimum it loses 40% or more of its value

Unless we're looking at a 1933 Double Eagle, the value is likely to go down about 50 - 60% of its original value. Some people, including me, will not collect coins that have graffiti.

VF-Details, graffiti. Since the damage is in very prominent places on both the obverse and reverse, the value is significantly impacted and only would appeal to low budget collectors who only want a cheap type coin. For example if the coin was worth $100 undamaged, it may only be worth $40 damaged to the "right" customer.

to the CCF! Yes, there is significant value reductions to any graffiti on coins but it is a family heirloom. I would enjoy it as such!

I appreciate all of the replies about the Lady. Without the graffiti, what grade does the coin appear to have? Any idea of value also? Thanks

Hard to pinpoint value on damaged coins, since it would depend on each potential buyer's tolerance for imperfect coins. I'd think on ebay it would realize approx. $30-35.
