I think they should change the design only for 2009 and go back to the memorial reverse but sharpened it up a little.
I also think they should change to copper plated steel like Canada uses.

I say change composition to aluminum. lighter than steel. We need a change in color other than "red" or "brown". Keep Abe.

I voted to stop minting them........for many reasons....one being...eventually MY pennies will be worth more then!... I agree. The pennies they make now are not looking vary well coming out of the dies anyway. If they made them out of aluminum they would melt allot easier then copper. He He

I'd say the pre-82 composition was better. At least it looks better.
Reverse design might be changed, but I'd prefer if Lincoln stayed though.

I say stop minting them. They aren't needed. And Lincoln lovers can take solace in the fact that the values will go up as well as the fact that they can finally complete a set.

They need to stop minting them and reintroduce the Two Cent coin. I could actually imagine using a Two Cent coin on a purchase!

Stop minting them and introduce fractional currency. People would "love" it so much that they'd be willing to see the 1 cent coin come back.

I voted stop minting. It's ridiculous that it costs so much to mint a cent. I think that the US should do what many other countries have done and stop minting lower value coins that cost more than they're worth.

Agreed, every other country loos at their smallest coin and says "These are costing more to make than they are worth! We're losing money on every one we make. That's stupid, let's stop making them." We look at the cent and say "Were losing money on every one of these we make, and no one really uses them. But if we stop making them people might think that we have inflation. So we better keep losing money on them so people don't find out that there is inflation." I got news for you folks, we know that there is inflation and we would rather not encourage the government to waste any more money if there is no reason to. I realize that the government feels they HAVE to waste money but we should try to discourage it whenever possible.

another way to save the penny is get rid of the politics of pork spending.
if each item was voted on instead of hiding it with something else and maybe lower the wages and retirement packages the people up in Washington get, we would save a few hundred billion. then make the people running for president raise their own money instead of the government matching/giving would save a few hundred more million.
then go to a flat tax rate where everyone pays their fair share.

I could go on forever

I think the mint ought to turn over the controls to a pro bono public eager to mismint and screw up some coins of our own just before they put the halt to all penny production. Let the loonies run the assaylum for a day! We'd make purty pennies, I'm sure. Maybe even prosper a bit off our own ineptness.

I voted change metal content , Basically saying...Find a way of making them cheaper. I figure it this way...If we stop making them all together, The Government has more money to waste on there salaries or something they want to waste it on. We would never see "1 CENT" of those excess Funds . I say keep the history going forward before it's forgotten ! As for Obama...He has 1 good thing to say...We Need "CHANGE"! (By the bag is fine)
