Not bad for the first shot... over time, with practice, you'll figure the best lighting sources and source angles.

That's really good! Nice resolution on your scope, looks like a 96dpi which is exceptional for clarity. As John said, watch your background lighting, like windows with daylight or as in your pix, a lamp on your left I bet. See the hint of glare on the left of the 9 at 11 o'clock? I sometimes use my hand as a block...

Excellent. We love eye candy, especially if it's sharp and tasty.

Very nice The Andonstar ADSM302 digital microscope is one I looked at before I purchased the Celestron. The ADSM302 was too far out of my budget. If I remember correctly they run right around $275 to $300. So I am definitely looking forward to seeing more images from you

A sheet of printer paper works good as a light block/diffuser too. Nice clarity on the pic. Think I'll ask Santa for one of those.

Excellent image for your first. My only (constructive ) criticism is it looks like the lens is not perpendicular to the surface of the coin.

Some areas are in focus and others are not. Otherwise, it looks like a great start and you'll be getting excellent pics out of it.

Lotta questions.... I paid $299, only because reviews of less expensive models kinda scared me off, and I had just received a check for $360 from the FTC as part of a lawsuit against a shoddy anti-virus software company, so why not spend a little more than I wanted. The unit comes with 2 gooseneck led lights, one on each side, lots of adjusting the lights especially on silver type coin. The lights come with a dimmer so I can adjust the brightness. Cannot take a picture of the whole coin, but I didn't want it for that. As far as the out of focus, I think I lost some clarity when resizing to upload the picture, but then again, it may just be my bad eyesight. Checking some of my cull Buffalo nickels where the date is wore off, I was able to see a small trace of the date outline. Still have a lot to learn, I think today I will pull out my bag of 1955 wheaties and see if I actually have a DDO, and my bag of 1979 S SBA'a and see if the mint mark is type 1 or 2.. Thanks for everybody's input and I hope I answered all the questions.

Quote: Really nice photo....What is the name of the software if you don't mind. Thank you The microscope comes with a 5" screen and you use a micro SD card. just take the picture and it saves to the card. You can also take videos. I just take the Micro SD card and stick it in my card slot on the computer and download picture, then resize using photoimpressions. There is software available, need to download from their website, but reviews of the software aren't all that great. I am finding after resizing you need to adjust the exposure.
