The line rising up from the R is raised and also stained... you can also see a raise next to Lincol's neck (but raise not following the silloutte) - east of the word liberty. Also possibly raised a bit on the east side of the coin at the top, between the S & T in TRUST, just not as pronounced...
That is why I mentioned LAM error... or other type error? Also the spotty bubbling is strange to me.

Yes cookie monster I am NEW... So at this point in the game the boring stuff to you is still a bit exciting to me... just learning about what I should be looking for! I think I am doing fairly well for only being in the game a month. I am sure there was a beginning to your collecting as well  |

I might give this coin a bath in pure acetone (with adequate ventilation and precautions). Don't wipe or scrape the coin--just soak and maybe pat dry. The linear region coming off the R might be a die crack or the edge of glue. The idea is that the bath should remove the glue, but obviously leave the die crack intact. Either way, this coin should end up in a 2x2. "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

I don't clean coins... I did figure that out early on! I know I could bathe it properly... but have made no attempts yet.
But I am sure this is a Die Crack... I will try to get some closer shots with different angle light source!

So I let it soak in acetone... and it looks the same! Not sure what is going on there? Beyond the "BIE"   |

Yeah... I am not sure. But again it seems to have a slight raise to it?
Its a bit ugly...but I'll take it at BIE value! Especially since it is the first BIE I've found.
I just got my digital micro camera. So, still just trying to get pics of what I discovered in the last month.

Good find! I've always love collecting "BIE's" and to this day, I still collect them as they're fun to find. It would be cool if I could put together a whole "BIE" set together with all of the different years and mint.
