Well....it's the "dollar coin" that they won't use.....not because of the color, or what it's made of, or what the design is or isn't......they just don't like the idea of the "dollar coin" period !.....

Ironically enough, the eagle on the reverse of the Sac dollar was my favorite part of the coin. The Presidential dollar was the first US dollar coin that didn't depect an eagle on the reverse (with the exception of the bicentennial Ike) that I know of. If I am reading this right, they are replacing the eagle on the Sac dollar, right?

It was just a bit of sarcasm. We're entering an era where it's considered 'fun' to have yearly designs on our coins. It would be nice if they brought back some older designs for circulating coins, if they're going all-out with this.

Putting the date and MM on the edge is a horrible idea.
Maybe I don't want to collect Sacs after all.

I am sure it is a business decision in that enough people buy a new issue and hold them for the mint to turn a profit. Appealing to special interest groups gives them a new audience each time they change. More of a Franklin Mint mentality than a U.S. Mint mentality.

OK, I'm the stupid brother no one paid any attention to, but I like these new designs. I think they're really beautifully, and something unique, as there aren't too many really great Native American coin designs out there, in my opinion, and the ones we do have are really collectable: Buffalo nickel, Oregon Trail Commem, Lady Liberty gold with headdress, Indian Head cent, etc. So I think (trying to talk as everyone hits him with pillow) they are pretty!

I like the design in the middle, except for the font used for "United States of America." It looks silly. The design on the bottom is ugly. However, I'm sure any design will turn out ugly with the super-low relief the mint uses now. What looks good on paper can easily turn out cartoonish when put on a coin in low relief.
Also, does anybody else hate the $1 notation as much as I do? It is reminiscent of a token, not a coin. Please, go back to using "ONE DOLLAR."
I'm sure the law will be amended before 2009 putting In God We Trust back on the obverse where it was before. There was no reason to move it in the first place, as the obverse was originally designed with the motto on it. Really though, I wish they wouldn't have any edge inscription.

They are making too many coins nowadays, and with tacky designs at that!
Those that don't study history are doomed to repeat it! This is exactly what killed the original commemorative coin program.

Well, in spite of the discussion about oft-changing designs, I feel that the proposed designs for these coins are very appealing. What turns me off is coin designing by political impetus, not quality of design (hint - SBA - cough).

I was going to start collecting the dollar, again, until I read where they are goping to screw up the coin like the Presidential coins! I like the "Sac" dollar and have a lot of them, but if it is going to be some more crap like the "game tokens", not no but hell no! Dick

Well....regardless.....they're not circulating coins like the Pres. Dollars... These Sacs are ONLY for collectors !.....and for the record, I like the designs too, and am excited to see what future designs will be on these.
