I don't have anything to weigh it with at the moment. I will do that tomorrow.

Metal tweezers and coins don't mix.

Seems to be something sandwiched there, with a beveled edge. If its a copper filling that's an indicator its a clad planchet.

Typical (clad) US dime weight 2.268grams, +/- 0.091grams. Thanks, Doug.

Adding: like finger prints, metal on metal not recommended with coins of value. If it leaves a mark on a circulated coin, few will notice. If its an uncirculated coin, value could drop more than half due to a tiny nick or blemish.

In the future, please DON'T use tweezers to hold the coin. You could cause great damage to your coin and lower the value of your coin.

Sorry about posting this again. I found out it's silver, not clad, and it weighs 2.52.

I just meant to update this post.
Rest in Peace

One of your first pics showed an up set rim, the slugs are "generally " not that way except on one side because of the punch-out. (former electrician...)

Thanks for the weight. That's within the 1873-1964 silver specs of 2.500 grams, +/- 0.097 grams.

FYI, I once worked with hardware in a fabrication shop. Hardware came in all sizes by the tons and out by the pounds. Compositions varied, but mainly stainless steel for the product line being fabricated.

Every so often I'd find perfectly sized bolts with no threads also nuts with no threaded center, but lastly perfectly round washer discs with no center punched holes.

Quarter sized is what I remember most. Resembled mint punched blanks, pre-upset. Thanks, Doug.

Congrats on the find and that you took to time to look into it instead of tossing it.

That's what I like about this hobby. It's very fun and you'll learn a lot of new things, that you've never known about.

I was curious if you had it tested for silver? It seems in spec. Thanks, Doug.
