Coop, what's your thoughts about around the nose area that continues into the nostril somewhat. Maybe some hard grease ?

Looks to me like the new trainee was grinding & polishing away.. The line and curve are sooo precise though I'd guess it was "taped" off -- as in blocked off with something a bit more substantial than tape.. I see what appears to be similar on the tip of his chin, around the top of his hair and down the left side of jacket as well, although probably not nearly as deep.. Durn nice finish otherwise, though..

I'll check those areas again when I get back home later tonight. Just noticed around nose because it's a deep channel around the whole thing. Not sure what happened in the nostril area either, hand slipped maybe lol

The incuse area around the profile of the bust is called a chanel or trench. It is believed to have been done to many working hubs from the twenties to the fifties. Thought to be a practice to increase the life of the hub.
My example showes it as well.
