Very nice snag and congratulations! It's a real Clip. Also, genuine Clips don't always have the Blakesley Effect.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. This is not a legitimate clipped planchet. Forget Blakesley. The rims and devices approaching and colliding with the clip show no signs of weakness. This is machined PMD. None of these pics show what should be seen with a clipped planchet: This is the area on the reverse where the Blakesley Effect should be seen, and I see the exact opposite.

Here's a pic of another large clip I found on google. This one is legitimate and I don't see the effect on it?

The second coin that you posted shows the Blakesley effect quite well.

Is that it above his head. That's what I was thinking. I don't see that on my coin. As you guys know I don't generally argue with anyone on here just wanted to get to the bottom of this one. The clip looked so perfect, that's why I kept posting. Thanks again for all the responses

The rim along the word liberty is flattened. That is the Blakesley effect. I would point out, that A) I really shouldn't argue with coop. B) The 2nd coin that you posted does not seem to have any fading toward the clip. C) Since E & V says that the lack of Blakesley is not a sure way to rule out a clip, your coin may well be a genuine clip. I still think it is not, and I am relieved to see that I am not alone, but I have no proof.

Quote: Is it legit? I'm thinking yes legit. Characteristics differ with larger clips compared to small ones. Thinking the reduction in mass makes for less flow outwards. The Blakesley effect often differs as well. Sometimes barely visible if at all. Thanks, Doug.

Pics of the edge of the clip (looking at the rim of the coin) will help.

My opinion still says that it's a genuine Clip. I don't agree at all that it's fake. My opinion is not going to change, unless proven otherwise. Pictures of the edge would help.
Edit: it's definitely a geniune Clip. It's not fake. Willburton, you need to wear gloves if you're going to hold the coin like that. You're going to permanently stain your coin with fingerprints if you keep doing this.

Just a curiosity, how well does another cent fit inside the arc?
